The following is the report of WNSP activities at GK, prepared by Chat Garcia Ramilo, the WNSP Lessons Learned Project Coordinator (chat@apcwomen.org) WNSP was involved in many activities, presentations and interventions at GKII, as well as taking time at the end of GK to have a meeting with the WNSP reps that were still in town. Here's a summary: The WNSP project -- Building Strong Women's Internet Based Women's Networks was chosen as one of the Best Practice presentation at the Global Knowledge Sharing Session which ran parallel to the GK Forum and Summit. All the presentations were held in another hotel 10 minutes walk from the main conference place. As a result very few people attended the presentations at these sessions. WNSP's presentation however, made by Chat, did not do too badly under the circumstances, attracting about 25 people who were interested in hearing both about the APC and the Women's Programme. Many of those who attended were doing similar work and wanted to hear of the women's programme's experiences. WNSP members also participated actively in the Women's Forum which developed the action items on gender issues and concerns for the summit. Sarita Ranchod of Women's Net South Africa was one of the speakers during the Women's Forum while several members acted as facilitators during the women's forum workshops. Karen Banks and Chat coordinated with representatives of UNIFEM, who were tasked with coordinating the gender cross cut for the Action Summit, in identifying action items for inclusion in GKP Action Plan. Marie-Helene Mottin-Sylla was a commentator in one of the plenary sessions of the GK Forum on "Transforming Governance and Empowering People". Karen Banks was a panelist in one of the empowerment tracks that discussed "Freedom of Information in the Information Age" WNSP held a post GK meeting where we discussed GK follow-up including the documentaiton of "best practice of projects relating to gender concerns" that is being done by Justina Curtis as part of the access track. We suggested the following actions to strengthen coordination with the women's programme. First, for Justina (Chris?) to write a brief outline of her work and timeline. Second, to communicate the content and progress of the documentation with the WNSP and last, to store the information from this research on the APC server and be linked to GK AIMS. We also talked about the need for the women's program to discuss and have an input into APC's membership and participation in GKP. WNSP members who were at GK and who participated in all or one of the activities reported above were:
