About Us
Background:

10 years after the start of the transitional process, women are still severely underrpresented in public and political life. Retraditionalization of society combined with economic deterioration has excluded women from the decision-making process. Measures of affirmative actions to overcome the resulting obstacles have not been introduced.

Actions to be taken at the international level:

59 bis: Ensure that all training programs for higher level management and leadership, including exchange programs abroad and scholarships, include 50% women.

Support the training of women running for elected positions as well as the training of women in government to increase their skills and capacity.

Actions to be taken at the national and international level:

63 (j): Ensure widespread dissemination of information and knowledge on the application of human rights and humanitarian law standards; review educational materials to identify and remove all examples of leadership that undermine confidence in women as leaders and decision-makers; develop new materials that promote women in leadership by year 2005;
